Terms of service

Showcanon is a free service for ranking films and TV. By using it you agree to the following. Plain language, minimal legalese.

Your account

• You must be 13 or older to create an account.
• You're responsible for keeping your password safe. We'll never ask for it.
• One human, one account is the spirit. Multiple accounts to inflate ranks or evade bans is not allowed.
• You can delete your account at any time via /account.

What you can post

• You can create lists, invite members, and add films. You own your lists; we get a limited license to display them within the service so other members can see them.
• Don't upload, share, or link to content that's illegal, defamatory, sexually exploitative, or designed to harass or harm others. We may remove content and terminate accounts that cross those lines.
• Lists, titles, and descriptions are visible to other members of the list (for shared lists) or the public (for lists marked public). Don't put private information in them.

Film data

Film posters, titles, metadata, and cast information are provided by TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Their terms of use apply to that data.

Service availability

Showcanon is provided "as is." We'll try to keep it running but make no uptime guarantees. We may change or remove features without notice. If a significant change affects your data, we'll give reasonable warning.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Showcanon and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from use of the service — including lost rankings, social drama caused by a tough Elo delta, or downtime during a matchup you really wanted to finish.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be surfaced in-app before they take effect. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
